Then And Now...in the Studios

It's always interesting to take a look at what used to be in the Disney Parks, and today DF'82 will have a brief look at a Then and Now involving one of the more hidden quick-service restaurants in Walt Disney Studios.

The Backlot Express Restaurant, situated near the Rock N' Rollercoaster, used to be described as a 'props dump', full of every piece of prop that the Studios needed to keep in storage for possible future use.

This is as it used to look.

Now, it is largely themed around Pirates of the Caribbean (in one end of the restaurant) and High School Musical (and the Wildcats) in the main part of the restaurant.

While I like the new theming, the old theming was much more interesting for a Disney Geek like myself, and is sorely missed. But what about you - do you think the new theming is better for all guests, or is it solely aimed at the 'youth' guest?

I like the old theming, but I am biased because I was the environmental graphics project admin. and fabrication designer on the original project.
