Light Up

A quick return to Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpot reminds us to always look up, as some things may light the way for us in a Disney park...

That's right, we are pointing out the Disney details in the light fixtures around the Outpost.

There really is a great attention to detail by Colonel Hathi and his Imagineering friends!

Looking Up At Mira - Part 2

Following on from yesterday's Always Look Up at Disney's Mira Costa hotel in Tokyo Disney Resort, we take some time to have a look at even more beautiful paintings on the impressive lobby ceiling!

This piece shows the Arabian Coast area of Tokyo DisneySea.

And the Port Discovery land of the 'Sea.

Now we look at Lost River Delta.

And we finish by looking at the art representing Mermaid Lagoon.

Fantastic!

Looking Up At The Mira - Part 1

From the title of this post, regular DF'82 readers will know what this might be about. We've been spending quite a few days looking around the gorgeous Mira Costa hotel, in Tokyo Disney Resort. But now, we enter the lobby and we quote the infamous Hidden Treasure phrase - Always Look Up.

Woah, impressive, right?

This is just another piece of the detail and beauty that Tokyo Disney has for us Disney Geeks. Today and tomorrow we're going to take a closer look at this painting on the ceiling. Any idea what the pictures might be depicting for us? Take a look at the first painting.

It looks like she might be representing the Mediterranean...maybe a harbour... It's Tokyo DisneySea's Mediterranean Harbor!

And below this piece represents American Waterfront.

And the Cape Cod area of the park.

And finally, for today, Mysterious Island.

That one looks just as intense as the land itself!

Join us tomorrow to have a look at some more of these gorgeous pieces of art.

Never Grow Up

Never grow up, but Always Look Up!

That could be our motto here at DF'82. But right now, it is appropriate in Disney's Ambassador Hotel, in Tokyo Disney Resort.

Look Up At The Station

At the Tokyo Disneyland monorail station, be sure to look up at the lights as you pass by.

More Disney Details that we here at DF'82 love!

Luigi Follow Only The Ferraris

If there is one place that this Princess cannot wait to explore, it is Cars Land, over at Disney's California Adventure. But to wet our appetite for all that the Land offers, Chuck from The Disneyland Gazette has been doing some exploring for us...

One of the newest attractions in the 'Adventure is Luigi's Flying Tires, which just happens to be located at Luigi's Casa Della Tires.

And if you are lucky enough to visit this area, be sure to check out the lighting fixtures in the queue area. They are modelled after everything Casa Della Tires has to offer!

Remember how we say to Always Look Up? Another example of Disney Imagineering at its finest.

Up To Adventure

The entrance to Adventureland in Disneyland Paris is one of the nicest looking 'Land entrances in Parc Disneyland.

The detail and tiling that has gone into the entrance really makes you feel like you are entering some of your very own Arabian Nights!

As you can see, looking up, there is a great amount of detail in the entrance-way.

Lights hanging in such a way that you feel like you are in Agrabah and the markets that keep this area hustling and bustling.

Lighting Up

Wondering into the Animation Building in Disney's California Adventure, be sure to Always Look Up.

Although it might be a bit bright, this fun lighting effect welcomes you into the Animation Academy, Turtle Talk With Crush and some other great animation opportunities!

A Toad In the Ceiling

I know yesterday we spent some time Looking Up in Discoveryland, but today we head over to Fantasyland in Disneyland, California, to look up in a classic attraction.

Have a good look at these pieces of ceiling decoration located in Mr Toad's Wild Ride.

Another good reason to Always Look Up, whether it is in one of the more recent Disney Parks, or the original.

Look Up At The Nautilus

Regular readers of DF'82 will know from the title that this post involves craning our necks and Looking Up!

Les Mysteres du Nautilus in Discoveryland, Disneyland Paris, is one of my favourite exploring attractions. Built in such a way that you really feel like you are in a novel of Jules Verne!

However, the entry to this attraction is just as impressive.

At first it seems like a simply rotunda, but the architecture on the top of the entryway shows some intricate design and great nods to an 19th Century view of the future.

An almost lighthouse feel, this small rotunda alludes to the fact that all is not as it seems, such as the Nautilus itself...

Looking Up At Ariel

When joining Ariel for her Undersea Adventure, be sure to follow one of DF'82's requests to Always Look Up.

If you do, you will be able to see and appreciate some truly beautiful theming for this attraction.

Can you see how the lighting fixtures are shaped in such a way that they look like seaweed, or other sea-plant-life?

And take a careful look at those shells against the corners. Could they be speakers?

Looking Up At Liberty

If you are trying to figure out which arcade is which, when you are at the end of Main Street U.S.A. in Paris, closest to the Castle, you just need to look for the special 'topper' on the Arcade sign.

As you can see, from Looking Up, this arcade is most definitely the Liberty Arcade.

Hurry Back

If you remember last week on DF'82 we had a look around Fuente del Oro restaurant in Frontierland. But do you remember how we say to always look up?

Remember to do just that as you exit the restaurant, and you'll see a nice goodbye just for all us cowboys!

Buildings of Curiosity

For those of you who have read DF'82 regularly, you will know that one of the most important things to do when visiting the Disney Parks (apart from enjoy yourself, eat as much possible, see the characters...) is to Always Look Up!

When in Adventureland, and passing by le Girafe Curieuse, don't forget to take a good look at the building itself.

It really has a great decoration based on African tradition, mixed with touches from other countries adorned with an Adventurous reputation!

Blast From The Past

If you are an avid reader of DF'82, I hope you will remember that one of our mottos here is to Always Look Up. And if you have visited Disney's California Adventure in the past few years, you may have noticed this sign on the way to the Hollywood Tower Hotel:

This sign will be recognisable to all Disney aficionados as the sign from the original Disney Studios, Hyperion Studios (as you can see below).

A great piece of imagineering, and it will be interesting to see if it is still there after the refurbishment of Disney's California Adventure over the next few years.

Mickey, Mickey, Where For Art Thou

We have visited Sir Mickey's in Fantasyland before, but we forgot to point out a very unique feature of this shoptraction (shop attraction).

Before you enter the establishment, don't forget to look up! You might spot a very interesting looking piece of architecture.Perhaps this is somewhere the fair maiden-Minnie can stand and call for her Sir Mickey!

Never Smile At Windvanes

The Peter Pan attraction in Disneyland Paris has some great 'always look up' moments, such as the beautiful windvanes of the Crocodile and Captain Hook's infamous ship.

Tuesday, 9 March 2010

Looking Up To Fantasy

It's been a while since we looked up to the beautiful wind vanes of Disneyland Paris. And seeing as this week has been some sort of Fantasy, why not stay in the fun land of Fantasyland. Today if we look up, we will see this interesting wind vane above the Peter Pan attraction.

Madness Above! Part 2

Yesterday's post entitled "Madness Above" introduced you to to another item on top of the beautiful buildings and attractions of Disneyland Paris.

Did you guess correctly where it is from? I said that you might need a cup of tea with this one...or perhaps you will be mad enough to have a go?

That's right - it's from the Mad Hatter's Tea Cups attraction in Fantasyland!

Madness Above!

Remember here at DF'82 we said one of the best mottos for visiting the Disneyland Paris parks is to 'always look up'?

Well, here we have another one! Can you guess where this is from? I'll give you a hint - you might need a cup of tea with this one.

Come back tomorrow to find out!
