Christmas in the Sun

Heading over to the Caribbean Beach Resort in Walt Disney World, the holiday season is still very much present but at a quieter, more relaxed pace. Without going for a big tree as soon as you enter the Old Port Royale Centertown, you are greeted with decorations that pleasantly fit in to the area.

But it's the little details that make Christmas at Disney unlike Christmas anywhere else...

Taking A Moment...Caribbean Beach

One of things I love about Disney resorts throughout the world is the hotels. The theming, the decoration, the layout - the majority of them, I adore! And I have been very lucky to stay at a few throughout my life.

Today is Wednesday - hump day - and I thought as a nice way for us to get passed the midweek (and look towards the weekend) would be to have a look around one of my favourite resorts for layout and ambiance. Caribbean Beach Resort is part of the Epcot group of resorts, situated near Disney's Hollywood Studios and behind Epcot. It opened on October 1st 1988, and consists of 6 'villages' (or groups of rooms) which are: Jamaica, Martinique, Aruba, Barbados, Trinidad North, and Trinidad South. The main focal point of the Resort, where the shop and the food court is located, is called Old Port Royale.

So, now we have a brief description of the Resort, let's have a little look at some of my favourite views...

It's The Little Details...Pirates

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you will know how much I love the little details that Disney put throughout their Parks and Resorts. The Little Disney Details, I like to call it. And there are so many in the Pirate rooms at Caribbean Beach, that you forget you are only in a Resort!

One of my favourite things about the room was the lights - they look just like hanging lights you would find in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction! And the theming of the lights even goes into the bathroom. That's what you call Disney Details! And you should notice in the first picture the barrel of rum - well, that was the fridge!

I love this painting, which was on the wall near the cupboard space. I would really love a small version of this, or even a postcard size print, for my own home.

You all should know by now how much I love my floors in the Disney theme parks - and this one is no exception!

And another great example of Disney Details - the shower itself. There is a picture of the Flying Dutchman 'carved' into the shower wall, and the curtain itself is decorated with some of the ships featured in the Pirates' trilogy. Classic detailing - and fun!

Pirate Crazy

On my last visit to Walt Disney World, I was lucky enough to stay in one of the fun Pirate Themed rooms in the Caribbean Beach Resort. I am a little more than obsessed with Pirates - and one day aspire to be a Pirate Princess!

But in the meantime, I settled for a room fit for a Pirate - and thought I would share it with you all here. Whilst it was a little more expense, we loved the theming of the room and thought it was great for a short holiday.

I have some more pictures of some of the details of the room, which I will post over the next few days.
