Animated in Tokyo

It's been a while since we visited any windows in the Disney Parks, so today we head to World Bazaar in Tokyo Disneyland, in search of an animation studio of some kind.

What is this we have here? It's the Marceline Animated Film Company.
Quality Entertainment for You and Your Family

And, as we can see from the windows at either side, the Film Company is run by the Disney Brothers - Roy O. Disney and Walter E. Disney. I hope they could produce the animations that we so desire!

Of course, the name of this window is a throwback to the town in Missouri where Walt, and his family, lived for 4 years during his childhood. Marceline is often referred to as the place which inspired Main Street U.S.A., and - consequently - World Bazaar.

Dressmaking in Tokyo

When visiting World Bazaar in Tokyo Disneyland, you might be in need of a Dressmaker.

Well, look no further than Miss Abigail Potter!

The Penny Drops

We have spent some time this week looking at the various Arcades in Disneyland Paris. But, just for fun, let's head over to Tokyo Disneyland to see their own Arcade on World Bazaar.

Of course, they have the still-fully-operational Penny Arcade! Not the same kind of Arcade that we have been looking at, but it's always fun to take a look at the similarities between the different arcades. If you want to read more about the Penny Arcades, see this article published in DF'82 last year.

Creator of Magic

While it was Walt Disney who truly created the Disney Theme Parks, over in Tokyo Disneyland there is someone else who helped to bring the creation to the people of Japan.

of Dreams Come True

Masatomo
Takahashi
Founder

Masatomo Takahashi is a Disney Legend, the founder of the Oriental Land Company and credited for bringing "Disneyland to the children of Japan". This window is a truly beautiful dedication to the man who's mission and vision of creating a Disney theme park that all of Japan could enjoy was done so in such a way that it is somewhere the country can be proud of.

OLC signed contracts in 1979 with Disney, to build an American theme park on land the OLC held in Tokyo. In 1983 the dream came true, and Tokyo Disneyland was born.

Please take the time to read Masatomo's Disney Legends page, and learn more about this fascinating man.

Hear The Roar

Tokyo Disneyland's World Bazaar (their section of Main Street U.S.A.) features some fantastic windows, although not all of them feature names of Cast Members like most of the windows in Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

Today's window is above the shop which sells Fashionable Finery, Appealing Apparel and has Superior Style!

Great! Looks like we'll just be in time for tomorrow's meeting.

Ticket To... World Bazaar & The Castle

Unlike the Disney Theme Parks throughout the world, Tokyo Disneyland doesn't have a Main Street USA. Instead, we are welcomed to the park with the World Bazaar! A main street covered with a Victorian style glass ceiling, constructed in order to protect guests from the Japanese weather, which can actually be quite harsh at times of the year!
World Bazaar has several different shops and restaurants - more eating places than any other of the Disney Main Streets. It also has the Tokyo Disneyland Club 33 restaurant, a similarly exclusive restaurant to the one in New Orleans Square, Disneyland, California. Here we can also find the Penny Arcade (where we can be transported back in time to enjoy penny games from the late 1800s) and the Disney Gallery, which features a place where you can have your very own Drawing Lessons!
Once we get through World Bazaar (where we try not to spend too much money on food or souvenirs!), we reach the Hub and we catch our first view of the beautiful Cinderella Castle.
Whilst very similar to the Castle in Walt Disney World, this Cinderella Castle used to have its very own walk-through attraction. Between 1986 and 2006, guests could experience the magical "Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour". And notice, the name is "Cinderella Castle" and not "Cinderella's Castle" like in Florida.

The Castle usually hosts some shows throughout the year, so maybe we'll pop back another time and have a look and see what shows are happening for us to enjoy!
