Time for A Royal Break

DF'82 will be taking a short break for the next week - as there is a Royal Wedding this upcoming week, the Royal Family here at DF'82 thought it would be an ideal time to gatecrash, ahem, I mean, attend a wedding!

So, in honour of the holidays here in the UK, DF'82 is taking a short break and will be back with you, afresh, on May 3rd! See you then!

Enjoying a Moment...First Thing In The Morning

I adore the sight of the train station at Disneyland Paris - it means that we're there and soon will enter the fantastic Main Street U.S.A.! So, let's enjoy a moment, first thing in the morning, entering the park and ready to pass under the Euro Disneyland Railroad.

Lodging the Details

If you are lucky enough to stay at, or simply visit, the Sequoia Lodge resort at Disneyland Paris, be sure to walk through the grounds.
And if you make your way from the main building to one of the 'outside' buildings, such as Big Sur, be sure to spot for any wildlife spending time in the grounds.

Just another Hidden Treasure in Disneyland Paris!

33 Facts

Although the title suggests different, I thought it would be fun to revisit one of my most enjoyable books, Little Known Facts About Well-Known Places: Disneyland. And from this book, we can experience a couple of facts about the mysterious Club 33 in Disneyland (p167-171).
Did you know...
  • There is a nine-year waiting list for Club 33, which can sometimes be as long as 14 years! It has a maximum of 1000 people on it - and it is also at capacity!
  • Membership for Club 33 has about 487 corporations and individuals - this capacity is actually due to capacity in the restaurant, and not exclusivity.
  • There has been a rumour that the name Club 33 was due to the address, which was required in order for Disneyland to obtain an alcohol license for the restaurant. But this theory is unlikely, due to the fact that addresses, nor streets, inside Disneyland are recognised by the US Postal Service.

Sailing the Magic Kingdom

At the beginning of last year, we visited the window of Roy E. Disney in Parc Disneyland, Paris. Today, we visit another window dedicated to Roy, this time in the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World.

Quick Bite...At Cafe Hyperion

It's been a while since we had a quick bite at Disneyland Paris, so today we head to Discoveryland in Parc Disneyland and eat at the Cafe Hyperion.
We enter underneath the large Jules Verne airship, heading into the Videopolis area. This restaurant is great for seating, now that the Lion King show no longer plays in this venue. There are plenty of seats, and areas to have a rest as well as a quick bite!

The fayre is not specifically spectacular, but there is staple bites for everyone. Burgers, salads and chicken nuggets are the main items on offer here. As elsewhere on property, there are set menus, offering sides and a drink with the main dish.
It is open all year round, usually from 10am until park close, and the venue makes it a great place for families. Now that there is no Lion King show playing in the Videopolis, classic Walt Disney cartoons play on loop on the large screen. Experience a different kind of TV dinner at Cafe Hyperion!

Well, they sit at Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, keeping an eye on all the guests having fun!

Mine-r Details

When you travel along the Rivers of America, you pass by Big Thunder Mountain, the biggest mining area in all of Thunder Mesa. From the River, you will see the area where the trains exit, heading towards the Mountain itself.

And we pass along, we will also see some of the loading docks and areas of mining that keep Eureka Mining Supplies and Thunder Mesa ticking over just nicely!

Enjoying a Moment...in Japan

It's a Sunday - let's sit back, relax, and imagine we've just eaten at Teppan Edo in Japan, Epcot.

Hands Up!

Do you look down as much as you look up when you visit a Disney Theme Park? I hope so! Because if you don't, you might miss some hidden treasures like these hand-prints in the Walt Disney Studios.

Can you figure out who these hands belong to? Some of them could be winning...or perhaps require a cup of tea!

And saving (one of) the best until last!

Small Details in La Chaumiere

If you visit DF'82 regularly, you will know that one of my new favourite areas of Parc Disneyland Paris is La Chaumière des Sept Nains. It is truly one of the hidden treasures of Fantasyland, and a great place to cool down in the summer, heat up in the winter, and escape the crowds for some exploring.
For those of you still in winter, and for those of you entering the heat of summer, let's take a little time out and have a look at some more Disney Details in this beautiful store!

Point The Way

When you are in Tokyo Disneyland, it can be easy to get lost as it is so big and different to the other Disney theme parks!

But have no fear, there are always signs pointing the way to where you want to go. And with the Imagineers planning the park, even these signings keep with the theming of the land you are in. For example, you may be in the hub, just off World Bazaar, looking to go to Westernland.

As you can see, the sign and the font is a perfect blend of Main Street U.S.A.-style writing and Westernland signing.

Enjoying a Moment...On The Bayou

It's a Sunday, and it's time to enjoy a moment somewhere in the Disney Worlds. Today's choice is on the Bayou at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. So peaceful!

La Bottega!

Fantasyland in Disneyland Paris is home to a number of fantastic boutiques and themed stores. We have already looked at the Dwarf's store, and the shop themed to Sir Mickey's. But now, we have a brief look at La Bottega di Geppetto. Roughly translated as Geppetto's Workshop!

When you enter, keep an eye out for a beautiful stained glass window of the shop-owner himself.

Above the Mantle

When you are visiting the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel in Paris, be sure to look out for the fireplace. Not only is it a great meeting point, and also gives you a warm welcome to the resort, but it has a beautiful Hidden Treasure.

Right above the mantlepiece is a gorgeous, detailed painting of the Disneyland Hotel, looking down Main Street U.S.A. in its heyday.
Fantastic and beautiful detailing!

Along the Tracks

If you are a regular reader, you will know that here at DF'82 we have a soft spot for the Euro Disneyland Rail Road. And it is with this soft spot that we head back on over to Disneyland Paris and take a look at a fun Disney Detail on one of the trains!

The Eureka train is named in association with the California Gold Miners, who would supposedly shout 'Eureka!' when they struck gold. Because of this, each carriage is named in honour of a Californian city. Let's have a look:

Finale in the Treehouse

It's our last day of our picture exploration of the Swiss Family Treehouse in Tokyo Disneyland. But at least with photos like these, our memories live on!
