Read All About It!

Our friends over at the Main Street Gazette have their very own window on Main Street U.S.A in Disneyland Paris. While Ryan, or Eric, doesn't have their name up there, I'm sure that they are very proud of the other editors that adorn the windows.Let's take the next three days off from other aspects of the Park, and have a good look at these windows and the folks responsible for the Parisian leg of the Gazette.

Our first window shows two of the most famous names in Disney history:Main Street Gazette

Since 1867

"We Print The News Before It Happens"

Martin Sklar
Editor-in-Chief

Tony Baxter
Managing Editor

For most Disney Geeks, these names will be more than familiar.

At the time of the construction of Disneyland Paris, Martin - or Marty - Sklar was the Vice Chairman and Principle Creative Executive of Walt Disney Imagineering. Sklar was in charge of the design and the building of the Euro Disney park. He had previously worked on the development and creation of the Japanese Resort, after having worked for the company since 1956 (on a full-time position).

Before he retired from the Walt Disney Company in July 2009, Sklar worked closely with the Imagineering creative staff, giving them guidance and leadership, and covering all the Disney theme parks throughout the world. Including Disneyland Paris. Which shows just how fitting this window dedication truly is to a true Disney Legend.
Tony Baxter is the other name on this window, and was the executive designer of Walt Disney Imagineering when he worked on the development and construction of Euro Disney. Baxter basically led the creative design of the Disneyland Paris park that we know and love. In an interview on the D23 website, Tony Baxter states that "Disneyland Paris is the most beautiful" park that he has seen opened. In the same interview, he mentions just how challenging the park was in order to build it as a park that could belong to Europeans.

If you would like to hear more about Tony Baxter and his creativity, there is a great article over on the DisUnplugged website.
