Looking Up At Liberty

If you are trying to figure out which arcade is which, when you are at the end of Main Street U.S.A. in Paris, closest to the Castle, you just need to look for the special 'topper' on the Arcade sign.

As you can see, from Looking Up, this arcade is most definitely the Liberty Arcade.

A Gift From France

The Liberty Arcade on Main Street U.S.A. is a tribute to the wonders of the Statue of Liberty in New York City.As you may or may not know, the Statue was a gift from the people of France to the United States of America, dedicated on October 28, 1886. Designed by the Frenchman Frédéric Bartholdi, the figure is based on the Roman goddess of freedom, Libertas, and is a symbol of the freedom of the United States. The Arcade in Paris is a fantastic tribute, full of images and memorabilia of the Statue herself, and to do with the celebrations of 1886, when Liberty became a symbol to all Americans.

After looking up yesterday, let's have a look at a brilliant floor situated in the Libery Arcade on Main Street U.S.A. In January we will spend a bit more time looking at both arcades at the side of Main Street, but today's let have a look at this floor.

A tribute to the Statue of Libery and New York Harbour. This floor mosaic is often overlooked by the average guests, but I hope after this post you will take some time to appreciate the Imagineers' - and Mickey Mouse's! - magic that is all around us in the parks.
