Leaping Into A Jolly Holiday

As this is a leap year, we all have the luck in having an extra day tagged on to the end of February! And what better way to celebrate this 29th of February by popping over to the new Jolly Holiday bakery in Disneyland, California.

Take a look at this beautiful tree mural, which is part of the decor in the Bakery.

Colourfully decorated with many reference's to Mary Poppins and her fantastical movie.

"Winds in the East, A mist comin' in, like somethin' brewin about to begin!"
Give Us Treats - Sing Songs - Bring Sweets!
A Piecrust Promise - Easily Made, Easily Broken

It is always a Jolly Holiday with Mary!

Sea of Colours

In the Art of Disney Animation, in Walt Disney Studios, Paris, there is plenty to see and do. With so many years of experience in the medium of Animation, this part of the Studios has far too much to take in for the average Disney fan!

One of the displays takes into account the effects and the spectrum of colour:

(In English) A Feeling for Colour
Artists have long understood the power and eloquence of colour to express emotion. Artists use passionate reds, tranquil blues, or muted yellows and oranges to heighten the emotional quality of a scene.

The wall displays some of your favourite Disney animated movies in a spectrum of colour.

Enjoying A Moment...With Minnie

Let's jump into our time machine and enjoy a moment in an area that has now been relocated to Yesterland: Minnie's house in Mickey's Toontown.

Funnily enough, Minnie is celebrating Halloween as well! That's good, as it means it won't be too hot to enjoy our moment... Have a great Sunday!

A Toad In the Ceiling

I know yesterday we spent some time Looking Up in Discoveryland, but today we head over to Fantasyland in Disneyland, California, to look up in a classic attraction.

Have a good look at these pieces of ceiling decoration located in Mr Toad's Wild Ride.

Another good reason to Always Look Up, whether it is in one of the more recent Disney Parks, or the original.

Look Up At The Nautilus

Regular readers of DF'82 will know from the title that this post involves craning our necks and Looking Up!

Les Mysteres du Nautilus in Discoveryland, Disneyland Paris, is one of my favourite exploring attractions. Built in such a way that you really feel like you are in a novel of Jules Verne!

However, the entry to this attraction is just as impressive.

At first it seems like a simply rotunda, but the architecture on the top of the entryway shows some intricate design and great nods to an 19th Century view of the future.

An almost lighthouse feel, this small rotunda alludes to the fact that all is not as it seems, such as the Nautilus itself...

New Paint

There is nothing better than a Disney Theme Park which has had a new coat of paint! The freshness and the cleanliness helps show the Parks at their best.

If you are lucky enough to visit the original park, Disneyland, in Anaheim, be sure to enter the Emporium on Main Street U.S.A. to see a new addition to the store.

This beautiful piece of artwork can be seen in the corner of the Emporium closest to Town Square. It's always great to see new additions to the Parks, of any kind!

Thanks to Chuck Canzoneri at the fabulous Disneyland Gazette (@TheDLGazette) for this info, and for helping DF'82 stay up-to-date with Disneyland Resort happenings!

Exiting the Games

When you leave Toy Story Midway Mania over at Disney's California Adventure, you are most likely discussing your scores, good or bad. But don't forget to have a look at this hidden treasure, as you exit the attraction.

As you can see, after being the size of a toy for the Mania games, as if by magic we have now returned to the size of a regular human. But what is that?

I think that might have just been where we were playing all those Midway Mania games with our Toy Story friends!

Behind the Scenes

Located on Stage One in the Walt Disney Studios Park, En Coulisse restaurant is one of the best ways to get a quick bite in the Park. A counter-service restaurant, it has a large menu and an even bigger seating area.

If you decide to grab a bite at this 'joint', head up the stairs to get a seat. And behind some of the entryway facades you might see some great attention-to-detail of the Imagineers:

Built in such a way that you will feel like you are really on a sound-stage in a large movie studio!

Walt's 100

Situated in the Walt Disney Studios' Legend's Plaza is a statue familiar to almost all Disney Theme Park Geeks.

The Partner's Statue is situated here, facing the Michael D. Eisner Building, pointing up at the dwarfs on the building.

The plaque at this statue shows the following inscription:

Walt Disney once said "We should never forget that it was all started by a mouse." But we at the Walt Disney Company know it was all started by a man. He was born 100 years ago today, but his legacy as a storyteller and entertainer lives on... it urges us all to continue the work... to make the magic fresh and new... for young and old, for generations to come.

And the one unique thing about this Partners Statue? It is at a level that you can get up close and personal with Walt and Mickey!

Fountain of Jasmine

The Arabian Coast area of Tokyo DisneySea is one of the most underrated areas of the park, in my opinion. Whilst this article isn't going to look at it in too much detail (we looked at the area briefly during the Spring celebrations), we are going to look at one of the most beautiful Hidden-in-Plain-Sight Treasures in the Coast.

This is Jasmine's Fountain, a beautiful decorated fountain situated close to Sinbad's Storybook Voyage. A great meeting point, and an even better place to enjoy a moment, people watching in this beautiful Park.

Tiles Under The Sea

Looking around the queue area for Ariel's Undersea Adventure in Disney's California Adventure, you will notice some beautiful details. We have already looked up, so now, let's look around.

Specifically, look at some beautiful tile work that has been produced, in an effort to make us feel like we are about to go, Under The Sea.

Minnie Oh!

After yesterday's post, introducing us to Theatre Orleans in Tokyo Disneyland, today we're going to enjoy some shots from the Minnie Oh! Minnie stage show that is currently being played in the Theatre.

Enjoy!

Orleans in Japan

When visiting Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, there are numerous opportunities to see some amazing and fantastic shows! One of which sits in Theatre Orleans, in Adventureland in the original Tokyo park.

Theatre Orleans itself is an amphitheatre of sorts, situated outdoor with bench seating and occupied on a first-come-first-seated basis.

The show currently showing is Minnie Oh! Minnie. And as this Princess is a very big Minnie Mouse fan, this is possibly one of the best shows in the Resort!

Join us tomorrow for some shots from the Minnie show. Warning, if you like bright colours, you're going to love this one!

Happy Valentines!

Although Valentine's Day is mostly an invented holiday, it is still a nice time of year to spread some love to all around, partners, friends or family alike.

And this year, Disneyland got into the Valentines' spirit with some pretty decorations upon entering the park!

Welcome to New York

The foyer area for the Hotel New York in Disneyland Paris holds some great visual items for first time (and repeat!) guests.

Such as the clock for the Hotel New York, showing the Empire State Building.

Or the Big Apple gift store.

Or perhaps the Apple on the floor of the foyer!
