Time For A Break

Due to some horrible computer problems, we’re going to take a small break here at DF’82. Hopefully it shouldn’t take too long, just a week or so. Make sure to subscribe to the RSS feed to be sure to get all future blog posts.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this blog – it means a lot to this Princess!

Spotting at Tokyo

If there is one thing that DF'82 loves almost as much as Main Street windows and hidden treasures, it is Photo Points!

Such as this beauty of a Photo Spot, from Tokyo DisneySea.

It's been a while since we've had one here, but hopefully this one makes up for some lost time.

Jolly Details

When spending some time in the Jolly Holiday Bakery, on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland, don't forget to take in all the real hidden treasures this bakery has to offer.

Such as these small props, and homages to Mary Poppins herself!

The Camp At Frontierland

You can enter Frontierland, in Disneyland Paris, just off the hub near the top of Main Street U.S.A.

As you do step back in time, into this Frontierland, don't forget to have a quick check to your right.

You might see some Tepees from Native Americans, set up ready to attack any cowboys that escape from Thunder Mesa!

Time To Dance

It's been a while since we wandered down Main Street U.S.A. in Parc Disneyland, so let's revisit one of this Princess's favourite areas!

And I don't know about you, but I fancy some dancing.

Oh look, it's Xavier's Dance School!

The specialise in tap, dance and ballet. Fantastic! Time to get those ballet shoes on, readers.

Animation Of Gustaf

Wondering through the Art of Disney Animation in Walt Disney Studios, we come across the works of Gustaf Tenggran.

Tenggran was a Swedish-American illustrator, and the chief illustrator of the Walt Disney Company in the 1930s.

Gustaf was actually the chief illustrator on the feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, hired in 1936 especially for this purpose. The artwork shown in Walt Disney Studios highlights his work on Pinocchio, but also references his work on Bambi and The Old Mill.

He remained with the Walt Disney Company until 1940.

Lighting Up

Wondering into the Animation Building in Disney's California Adventure, be sure to Always Look Up.

Although it might be a bit bright, this fun lighting effect welcomes you into the Animation Academy, Turtle Talk With Crush and some other great animation opportunities!

Enjoying A Moment...With Minnie

It's time to meet my favourite Mouse... Minnie welcomes us all to the Magic Kingdom, in Walt Disney World.

Oh Minnie Oh!

Buckets of Disney

The entry courtyard at Walt Disney Studios, Paris, is always full of guests and characters, welcoming you to the park. One permanent staple, of course, is Sorcerer Mickey.

He stands here, welcoming you to his Studios, and showing you some of the movie magic that has made Mickey Mouse so memorable.

Just look out for the wondering broomsticks...

Fountain of Fun

Tokyo Disneyland's Toontown is a wacky affair, with some great areas to explore. You might even want to take a ride on Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.

And if spinning with the residents of Toontown isn't your thing, take a seat at the fountains out front. You might see a very special rabbit in the middle of said fountain...

Death Star Parking

I don't know about you, but when I used to visit Star Tours in Disneyland, I was never sure where to park my hover-stroller...

Ah good, now they have signs so I will know exactly where to put it, along with the regular 'earth' strollers too.

A Stageful of Sugar

As if visiting the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank was not special enough for this Princess, the chance to see the Julie Andrews' Stage in person was out of this world.

This plaque is the only sign highlighting the history behind the stage:

River Run Refurb

I love to see attractions when they are stripped to their bare (or in this case, should I say bear?) essentials. Just last month, the Grizzly River Run attraction in Disney's California Adventure was temproarily down to have some essential maintenance carried out on the river rapids ride.

When else would you get to see a rapids ride without any rapids?

Call The Fire Brigade!

Even Toontown in Tokyo Disneyland needs it's own branch of the emergency services. Such as the Toontown Fire Department.

From the looks of things, they are ready for any kind of fire-related emergency!

Even their logo, with a fire hose wrapped around a T, shows that they are ready for anything.

Enjoying a Moment...With Flowers

Today, with Flower and Garden at Epcot in full bloom, let's enjoy a serene landscape as we head towards World Showcase.

Happy Sunday!

Flower Power!

Tea Beneath You

When entering the Jolly Holiday Bakery, be careful not to step on some tea.

As you can see, the minute you enter the bakery, you know exactly what you're going to get!

Perfect Disney Detailing.

Manly Softness

One of the best things about visiting any Disney Theme Park, is that there is a plenitude of restrooms and toilets.

Just like this one, situated between Plaza Inn (Minnie's Restaurant) and Star Tours in Disneyland, California. And if you happen to be entering the men's restroom, watch out for this sign.

Songs Live On

Just this week, the Disney community have been mourning the loss of someone who put the music into many of our hearts: Robert B. Sherman, who died on Monday 5th March at the age of 86.

How he and his brother touched many of our lives with their music and songs will have been written about all over the Disney interwebs, but there is a very beautiful article written by Empire Magazine here.

Thank you for the music, Robert.

Enjoying A Moment...At The Tower

Following on from our earlier post looking at the architecture near the Tower of Terror, I thought it would be appropriate to enjoy a moment this Sunday at the Tower itself!

Although, with the ominous looking sky overhead, maybe we won't enjoy it for too long...

Through to the Tower

Beware the Apple!

When you enter La Chaumière des Sept Nains, in Fantasyland in Parc Disneyland, you must beware of the Evil Queen and her evil spells.

As you can see, we have came across the Evil Queen's magic spell book, opened at the page to make a Poisoned Apple... But luckily, there is an antidote to this spell on the opposite page - showing that the only way to combat the Poisoned Apple is True Love's Kiss.

Spanish Stylings

The sitting area close to the Tower of Terror in Walt Disney Studios is one of my favourite enclosures in the whole of the park. A small area for sitting and having a snack, or a drink, or simply waiting for your braver party members to complete their tower experience, it is a great place to pass a moment or several.

As you can see, the area is modelled closely to the Spanish Colonial Revival architecture of Southern California, made famous in the early 1900s.

Linking to the Tower of Terror's storyline, and being set in 1939, this area of the park fits in perfectly, with this style of architecture at the height of fashion during the 1920s.

And one of my favourite parts of this area is this fantastic faux fireplace!

At Your Service

There are so many things to love about the film Mary Poppins, but one part of the movie that this Princess adores is when we are introduced to the penguins.

And luckily, the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe over in Disneyland makes a fantastic reference to these fun-friendly creatures!

Looks like they are ready to be at your service...
